Art Stores

  • Curry's  Canadian store.  Excellent prices.  Free shipping for orders $75 or more.
  • Ken Bromley Art Supplies Located in Great Britan. Excellent prices, but you sometimes (not always) have to pay about 15% duty at the border.   Also, watch out for the British Pound to Canadian Dollar exchange rate.  I always check on Google before placing an order. Currently, it's cheaper than anywhere in the USA.  I use this store when I need something that's not available at Curry's.
  • Art Cansel  Located at 210 Kenmount Rd, St John's, NL A1B 3R2   709-738-3600 (Convenient, decent prices, good service.)

Information on the Internet

Not everything you read nor every video you watch on watercolour painting on the internet offers good advice. Please be careful. Some of the advice I've read and heard is actually bad advice.  Listed below are a few sites and YouTube videos I recommend.

  • HandPrint This is the best and most comprehensive resource for watercolor painters on the Internet. Created by watercolour artist Bruce MacEvoy

Other Great Tips on Painting Water

Some have been asking about how I approace painting. That is, do I complete a whole section before moving on to the next, or do I do lighter colours followed by darker colours over the whole painting, etc. This slideshow demonstrates how I typically approach doing a painting.
